António Charrua (Lisbon 1925 - Évora 2008)
Charrua lived in Lisbon, Coimbra, Parede an Évora.
From the 50s he regularly participates in the most important group exhibitions of his time, and works in engraving, a very common activity at the time the Portuguese art scene.
The first individual exhibition takes place in 1953, in Porto, and from then exhibits regularly nationally and internationally.
In 1960, it awarded a Gulbenkian scholarship. He traveled to Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland.
Picasso and Van Gogh profoundly shape his initial artistic career, but the influence of Pop Art, who knows in the 60s, determine his language. He is represented in public and (...)
